Parent Visa

Parents may be able to migrate to Australia if they have child/children in Australia who is an Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident or eligible New Zealand citizen. To be eligible for this visa, parents need to be meet balance of family test. According to this test, 50% of children must be Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident or eligible New Zealand citizen.

There are 4 types of parent visas.

Parent visa (103):

Processing time is very long, and this visa has capping (means department accepts only limited no of application every year). There is no age limit for parents to apply for this visa.

Aged Parent visa (804):

Again, processing time is very long and have capping on this visa like 103. Atleast one parent must be of pensioner age as per Australian law. Below is the age chart:

Age Requirements

The pension age will be gradually increased from 65 to 67 years as set out in the table below.

Contributory parent visa (143):

This is a permanent residency visa for parents and need to pay additional fee as the processing time is fast as compare to normal parent visa. There is no age limit for parents to apply like in aged parent visas. Applicant if wants, can split the cost in 2 instalments by applying for Temporary Contributory parent visa (173) first then apply for permanent stage 143. Applicant can also directly apply for Contributory parent visa (143).

Contributory Aged Parent visa (864):

This is a permanent residency visa for parents and need to pay additional fee as the processing time is fast as compare to normal aged parent visa. Applicant if wants, can split the cost in 2 instalments by applying for Temporary Contributory parent visa (884) first then apply for permanent stage 864. Applicant can also directly apply for Contributory parent visa (864).
